9 Ways to Promote your New Website Launch

Woohoo, you finally launched your website! You should be proud, it’s an amazing achievement, especially when you’ve likely been working on it for weeks or months!

Whether you DIY’d your website or hired an amazing website designer to bring it to life, it’s now time to get the most value you can out of your website launch by generating some excitement to get people checking out your website right away.

While you don’t necessarily need to promote your website launch, you don’t want to miss the opportunity to generate some hype. We all love checking out something new, and it could put you months ahead with new clients and subscribers, plus it kickstarts your traffic, so there’s no reason not to celebrate it!

Let’s dive in to some fun ways you can create excitement for your new website!

Generating buzz before your launch

Want to launch your website like a pro?

Start talking about it before it’s even finished!

It’s a great way to build excitement since your audience get taken behind the scenes of what you’re working on and why it’s so damn amazing!

Here’s a handful of ideas to share about your launch without giving away the best bits:

  • Share sneak peeks of your website as you’re working on it (if you’re working with a designer, they can help with this too). Don’t forget sneak peeks of your beautiful branding and amazing brand photos!

  • Talk about some of the new features and why they are so helpful to your followers

  • If you’re adding highly requested features, brag about it a little! People love feeling listened to and like their opinions matter!

  • Share your go-live date ahead of time and start a countdown a few days before your launch

Create some fun launch graphics for social media

Mockups, countdown graphics, and even little videos scrolling through your website can be a fun way share about your website launch on Facebook and Instagram!

You can use free tools like Canva and SmartMockups to create a variety of mockups, share some before and after pics of your website and create other fun graphics that match your branding.

Once you have a few graphics, it’s time to start sharing them everywhere!

And no, I don’t mean boring posts like “Hey, I just launched my new website, come have a look!”. Let’s get a little more creative than that!

Here are a few fun ideas to promote your website during your launch week:

  • Share what motivated you to choose your branding or redesign your website in the first place. Bonus points if you tie it to how that benefits your audience so they feel included in the process!

  • Talk about some of the amazing new features on your website and why you love it so much

  • If you launched a blog at the same time (or refreshed an old one!), make sure you have 3-5 posts ready to share so your followers have something to binge on right away

  • If you worked with a photographer, designer or copywriter, talk about what it was like to work with them and tag them in the posts. Most people love being tagged and will happily reshare, which can get your website in front of a heap of new eyes!

  • Share screenshots of the lovely feedback people give you about your website. Make sure you check with the person first or blur out their name, though

  • If you created a lead magnet for your website, you can also share about it as well. It’s a great way to build your email list as part of your launch (This post will give you some ideas on how you can promote your lead magnets on your website)

While you’re sharing, don’t forget to double-check that you have the right link on your Facebook profile, Facebook business page, Instagram and LinkedIn. The last thing you want is to start bragging about your amazing new website, only for the links to not work!

Share the exciting news with your email list

One of the best things about having an email list is to be able to share your exciting news and announcements to people who are hyped to hear from you!

What better time to email them something exciting than when you’ve just launched your new website???

You can add a teaser in your email the week before to build some anticipation, then share the news once your website is live! Don’t forget to tell your readers why they should go and check it out!

As a sneaky little side note, why not save yourself some time by repurposing one of your social media posts in your email? Who says you have to reinvent the wheel when you have already written some fun posts on the topic?

Oh, and while you’re thinking of email, don’t forget to add your website link to your email signature! With the amount of email we send as business owners, this is a great opportunity to get some eyes on your website in the future!

Launch a new product or service at the same time

I know you’ve already put a lot of work into bringing your website together. You’ve written copy, had brand photos taken, created your branding or coordinated with pros.

But hey, if you can swing it, launching a new product or service at the same time can help you take advantage of all the buzz you’re generating!

Pair that with a launch discount to create some urgency for people to take a peek and you can really create some excitement in the process, and may even book some new clients or make some sales!

And as a bonus, your audience will love that you’ve also created something amazing to help them on their journey, too!

Run a flash sale on your products or services

A great way to get people excited for your launch and to give back to your audience for joining the celebrations is to run a flash sale.

Whether you have digital products, courses or want to add a bonus to your services, there are so many options here that you could use for a sale! And since we all like getting a good deal, it can be a winner to get people who are interested in your services to take a look around!

Bonus points here if the thank you page after someone purchases keeps your visitors exploring more! It could include some of your favourite resources, your freebies or your recent blog.

Host a website launch giveaway

Running a launch giveaway is the perfect way to encourage people to actually poke around on your website.

There are so many fun ways you could run a giveaway, but for it to be most effective, you want to encourage your audience to actually explore your website, not just have them fill in an entry form.

Here are a few fun ideas you could try to get your ideas flowing:

  • Create a form with a handful of questions that your visitors can find the answers to you your website. You could ask about fun facts on your about page, what services you offer, blog post topics and more. This way, people are actually looking around your website to find the answers

  • You could hide something fun on one of the pages of your website, like an emoji, and give a prize to the person who sends you the link to the page first

  • If you want to increase eyes on your website, you could also extend the giveaway to your social media by giving a bonus prize or bonus entries to anyone who shares about your launch. Whether it’s tagging friends, sharing on stories or something else, it can help new people find you. Just make sure you check out Facebook and Instagram’s competition rules to make sure you don’t get in trouble from the social media powers

Get in front of other people’s audiences and share the news of your launch

A good starting place here is asking your biz besties to share about your website launch. They already love you and want you to succeed, so chances are, they will be more than happy to spread the word for you! You can always sweeten the deal a little by offering to do the same in return.

Another way you can get in front of other people’s audiences to share the news is by doing guest lives in other people’s Facebook groups, doing Instagram takeovers, being a guest on podcasts or doing guest blog posts. It gives you an opportunity to share value with their audience and position yourself as an expert, while also encouraging people to check out your website (and maybe even enter your launch giveaway 😉). Win-win-win for everyone involved!

I’m betting you’ve also worked with some pretty dreamy clients that would love to hear from you about your website launch so they can celebrate with you. Sending an email out to your past clients is a great way to keep them updated, and you never know… It may remind them they need your help again, or that they know someone to refer you to! Even if it doesn’t, they’ll be excited for your news and honoured that you shared it with them!

Go on video

Whether you go live on Facebook or Instagram, or record some videos for YouTube, video is a great way to share about your website launch since anyone watching will see how excited you are about it, and excitement is contagious!

When your audience can feel your excitement, it’s a great nudge for them to go check out your site to see what all the hype is about, which gives them a chance to fall in love with it too!

Even if you’re nervous to show your face on videos, you can still capture your excitement on video by filming a screen capture tour of your website to show your visitors around and highlight some of the new features. I love to use Loom for quick videos like this, and the best part is, it’s free if your videos are under 5 minutes each!

I know I mentioned guest lives already, but hey, it’s getting on video so it still counts here as well! Whether you line up a few on launch week only, or spread them out for a month or two after your launch, they are a fantastic way to get in front of new people!

Kickstart your SEO

I know SEO is a long game compared to the ideas I’ve already shared, but it’s not something you want to miss. SEO will set you up for your website to be found on Google long into the future, but there are a few things you should do right away to kickstart your SEO efforts.

Firstly, you need to submit your website to Google Search Console so Google checks you out as soon as possible. Without doing this, you could be waiting weeks or months for Google to find your website, which means you won’t show in search results during that time.

Next, you want to set up a Google My Business account or claim your business profile if you haven’t already. This can help you show in even more Google search results, since you can start showing on Google map searches as well. It also gives you a place where your clients can leave reviews, which can help boost your SEO efforts even more!

It’s also worth taking some time to make sure you’ve set up all the right SEO settings for the website platform you use. If you’re using Squarespace, you can see what SEO settings you need to update over here. This will help you create a strong SEO foundation to build on over time with your content.

Encouraging your visitors to leave blog comments and reshare your posts is a great way to show Google that your website content is valuable and engaging as well. Since Google wants to show the best content possible in search results, this can be a great sign that your content is helpful so that Google shows it to even more people in the future.

A new website that you’re proud to show off can help you turn your visitors into clients, grow your email list effortlessly, can get your found on Google and can be a great reminder of just how awesome you are as a business owner.

Getting to celebrate website launches with my clients is one of the best parts of my job, especially knowing the amazing impact it will have for their business going forward!
